Disneyland
The original! Walt's theme park has grown over the years yet a lot of that childish splendor lives on. As the Disney park with the most attractions you will quickly forgive its cramped space when you realize that the upshot is that as soon as you get off one ride or attraction that another is nearby.
Pros: Plenty of attractions that load quickly or have minimal lines means that you will enjoy your day at the park and a FastPass system will let you receive future boarding time windows for short waits at the popular attractions.
Cons: While Disney had the benefit of land in Florida, it wasn't the case here. As amazing as this theme park is you will often be able to see the real world beyond the gardened fences.
3 Tips:
-- Arrive early if you plan on hitting some of the more popular attractions like Indiana Jones, Matterhorn and Splash Mountain. Yes, you can use FastPass (not on Matterhorn) but you are limited to one FastPass for each window so if you can avoid the lines early in the day, go for it.
-- If you've been to Disney World's Magic Kingdom, single out the different attractions because you won't be able to do all of Disneyland in one day. So check out attractions like Alice in Wonderland, Mr. Toad, Indiana Jones, Roger Rabbit and Pinocchio because they are unique to this West Coast park.
-- Want to dine with a view? Check out the Blue Bayou restaurant. A welcome departure from the park's counter service fare, this place has seating on the water as Pirates of the Caribbean ships stream by. While there is ample fancy fare the signature dish here is the Monte Cristo sandwich.
